The project builds on a collaboration between two academic laboratories:
The Laboratory of Mechanics and Acoustics (LMA)
is a research unit of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).
The
CNRS is a government-funded research organization under the administrative authority of French Ministry of Research.
The LMA is a member of the
"STAR" Carnot institute: Science and Technology for Research Applications.
POTION involves the research team "Modeling, synthesis, and control of sound and music signals''.
It features international experts in audio signal processing and acoustics, with a particular emphasis on the physical behavior of sound sources,
analysis-synthesis and perceptual control of non-stationary signals, real-time implementation of synthesis processes and perceptual coding.
Participants:
- Olivier Derrien, Associate Professor, French coordinator
- Richard Kronland-Martinet, Director of research
- Thierry Voinier, Research engineer (Now retired)
- Mitsuko Aramaki, Researcher
- Sølvi Ystad, Director of research
- Ichrak Toumi, Post-Doc researcher
The Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Science (ÖAW)
is a public-funded research institution. It represents a multidisciplinary research environment that covers various fields including sound analysis-synthesis,
simulation and propagation of sound fields, acoustic phonetics, signal processing in acoustics, and psychoacoustics of normal hearing, hearing impairment, and cochlear implants.
POTION will involve the "Mathematics and signal processing'' and the "Psychoacoustics'' groups.
Participants:
- Thibaud Necciari, Post-doctoral researcher
- Michael Mihocic, Laboratory technician
- Piotr Majdak, Researcher, Austrian Coordinator
- Anton Noll, Engineer, software development
- Peter Balazs, Director of research
- Bernhard Laback, Researcher
